Oconee State Bank – 60 Years of Remarkable History

Oconee State Bank has a long history of proudly providing first class service to its stakeholders and community. In this week’s edition of Beyond the Cupola, we revisit some of the special moments that have made OSB what it is today.

 

  • 1958- Frank Stancil and “Rabbit” Hardigree recognized the need for a bank in Oconee County and formed a Steering Committee.

  • 1960- Oconee State Bank opened its doors for business, dedicating itself to provide first class banking solutions for the people of Oconee County.

  • 1962- OSB adopts the motto “The Bank of Friendly Service”.

  • 1970- OSB opened its Main office.

  • 1983 – OSB opened its Bogart Financial Center.

  • 1984 – The Junior Board of Directors was established.

  • 1987 – OSB installed its first ATM.

  • 1988 – OSB expanded by leasing two condo units on Durham Street. 

  • 2004 – OSB opened the H. Mell Wells Operations Center.

  • 2006 – OSB opened its Butler’s Crossing Financial Center

  • 2013 – OSB established a social media presence by joining Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Since that time, we have also added a presence on Instagram.

  • 2016 – Neil Stevens joined OSB as President & CEO. 

  • 2017 – OSB expanded to SBA lending.

  • 2018 – OSB opened its Gwinnett Financial Center and its Athens Loan Production office.

  • 2020 – Oconee State Bank celebrates 60 years of remarkable service!

  • 2021 – OSB will open its new Corporate Headquarters in downtown Watkinsville!
