Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Deesha Hagwood, VP Marketing, shares her love and excitement for the upcoming Annual Oconee Chamber Fall Festival!

Pumpkin spice and everything nice, that’s what fall is made of!  It’s that time of year again.  Yes, fall.  When cooler temperatures, vibrant colors, and the smell of pumpkin anything triggers a nostalgic reaction and takes us straight to warm and friendly times associated with pumpkin pie, holiday gatherings, family time, apple picking, football, bonfires, corn mazes, and so much more.  For my family, one of our treasured family traditions this time of year is the fall festival held right here in our hometown of Watkinsville, Georgia.  Put on by our local Oconee County Chamber of Commerce and drawing tens of thousands of visitors, it is THE place to be each year on the 3rd Saturday in October!  I have so many memories over the years attending with my family, from wooden pop guns and prized sand art creations, to pony rides, funnel cakes, stocking up on homemade candles for me and custom hair bows for my daughter, browsing book vendors and making local artwork purchases with my Mom, and so much more.

Rain or shine, hot or cold, pandemic or not, the festival goes on!  The 2020 Fall Festival this coming Saturday, October 17th might look a little different due to COVID-19 and the safety measures put in place to benefit and protect attendees. But what isn’t changing is the opportunity to come out and support local vendors and make fun memories with your family on a fall afternoon! Whether you are looking for that perfect custom addition to your home décor, a unique Christmas gift for everyone on your list, that one toy or activity that sparks joy in the eyes of your children, delicious fall treats of all varieties, or just weekend time together with your family and friends…the Oconee County Fall Festival is your spot!  I’ll see you there!
