In this edition of our Beyond The Cupola blog, VP Mortgage Lending, Jessica Roberts shares from the heart about her recent experience with ESP's Big Jump!
I made my third skydiving jump this past weekend. I was quite a few years younger the last time I jumped, but this time was, hands down, the most special! I have had a strong desire to participate with ESP for a while now, and I've attended several fundraising events and donated from time-to-time, but knew in my heart that I wanted to do something bigger than that this year... so why not jump out of a perfectly good airplane?!
ESP does so much for our community. Raising $600 to give back to their participants seemed like the least I could do, and having a fun adrenaline rush at the end was just icing on the cake and gave me a little bit more motivation to get those funds raised to send an ESP friend to summer camp.
As I made my commitment to JUMP for ESP, I talked with my kiddos about the why behind such a bold effort. I thought it was a good opportunity for them to see mommy work towards a goal that would impact other people for the better. During the process, they heard me discussing fundraising with my husband and they were onsite to cheer me on as I made the jump. They got see to some of the participants of ESP during the event and I shared pictures of the awesome summer camp they got to enjoy as a result of our commitment to the cause. A little time and effort made such a remarkable difference in one person’s life and that's the lasting impression I wanted my kids to take away from mommy's Big Jump.
