Honestly, what is more satisfying than shredding all the paper that has probably taken up the majority of the space on your desk?! The event is open to everyone that has documents in need of shredding. It’s a painless process and OSB is taking care of the shredding for you!
But have you ever asked yourself why shredding documents is important to do? Below we address the top 5 reasons why you should make this a task to complete at least every year.
- DECLUTTER
When you get to work and see a stack of papers and wonder how to organize them, it can be pretty stressful. After going through those documents to see what you can discard, you now have a full stack that is not necessary to keep around. Shred those things! It will help you keep a positive work environment by not having clutter around your space. Take a look at your home office as well. With many of us working from home over the last year and a half, documents could have accumulated in that space as well. Nobody wants their work space full of clutter, especially in their home! - PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT
According to Identity Source, 14.4 million consumers became victims of identity fraud in 2019, which is about 1 in 15 people. There are many ways to prevent this theft, one of them being shredding important documents. When you take the time to shred personal or professional documents, you are decreasing the opportunity for any kind of theft to occur. - PROTECT CUSTOMERS
A high standard is held in banking to protect customer information at all costs. Customers put their trusts in banks to obtain their information securely. Shredding can aid in the processing of protecting your customers. - IT’S THE LAW
Disposing of documentation correctly is an expectation for every organization or company. The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (FACTA) notifies companies they can be held liable if customer or client confidentiality is breached from important documents. This also goes for employers when a previous employee has departed. They are responsible to destroy any personal or important documentation. - IT HELPS THE PLANET
Using paper in the work place is a common thing but now with the access to pretty much anything you need online it is easier to save that paper. By shredding paper around your office or home, forests can be preserved. The strips of paper can actually be recycled and reused to make paper towels once they are shred!
